Student Confidentiality and Privacy Rights

Those of us who work in the Office of the Registrar take our obligation to safeguard the confidentiality of student information very seriously. In fact, we go beyond the requirements of the federal law that governs access to this information.

In general, we won?t release any information about you without your prior written consent. There are only two exceptions:

1. General Directory Information (explained below)
2. Under those circumstances specified by federal law.

General Directory Information

We will confirm the following directory information:?

• Dates of attendance?
• Degrees and/or honors received?
• Major course of study

Please note that this information is only given upon specific request (such as by a potential employer). Under NO circumstances will we give anyone your Social Security Number, your GPA, the courses you took, or the grades you received. If you want someone to see your courses and grades, you must submit an official transcript request.

We will, if requested by you in writing, confirm your GPA in addition to dates of attendance, degree(s) received, and major course of study.

If you do not want us to confirm even this minimum directory information without your prior written consent, you must request this of us in writing. To do this, you must fill out a ?
