Software Requirements
Most applications needed for e-learning are free and are listed at the bottom of this page. These include Java, and Adobe Acrobat Reader at minimum. We also recommend Mozilla Firefox, which is free and available at
http://getfirefox.com.
Often times course instructors will post Microsoft Word documents, Microsoft Powerpoint presentations or Microsoft Excel spreadsheets. To view these files you must have the software to do so. Your first option is to buy Microsoft Office Pro (the pro version is the only one with PowerPoint included), at a website like
www.journeyed.com, which will give you a student discount price (as of 9/4/2006 it is $80). The second, and free option, is to get a compatible software called OpenOffice. It is available at
http://openoffice.org.
Special Requirements:
Certain classes or programs may require specific software or operating systems. This includes, but is not limited to, the ECM program which requires Windows so students can use specialized software. Check with your instructor before making any purchases.
