Dr. Michelle E. Haddad
(October 15, 1959 - June 10, 1996)
Dr. Michelle E. Haddad was born to Dr. Louis and Gloria Haddad. While attending Utica University, Dr. Haddad spent hours observing patient care at the Faxton St. Luke’s Healthcare (FSLH) (formerly St. Luke’s-Memorial Hospital) Dental Health Center. After graduating from Utica University in 1981, Dr. Haddad began her formal dental education at SUNY Buffalo School of Dental Medicine. Prior to obtaining her dental degree in 1985, Dr. Haddad served a summer internship at the hospital’s General Practice Residency Program and subsequently became a dental resident upon being awarded her doctorate in 1985. Following completion of her one-year post-doctoral training program in 1986, Dr. Haddad entered private practice with her father. Dr. Haddad remained involved with the residency program as a volunteer attending and served as chairperson of the Hospital Dental Section.

Guest Speaker - Michael N. Hatton, DDS, MS, FACD

Dr. Hatton graduated from the School of Dental Medicine at Buffalo, New York in 1982. He received a Master’s of Science degree in Oral Biology in 1986, and completed specialty training in Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery with Board Certification in OMFS 1988 and 1989 respectively. Dr. Hatton is currently a Clinical Professor of Oral Diagnostic Sciences at the dental school. He has served as the school’s Director of Oral Medicine and Urgent Care Dental Services. He holds Academic Fellowships in The American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, The American Dental Society of Anesthesiology, The American Academy of Oral Medicine, The International Congress of Oral Implantologists, and The American College of Dentists. He was in the private practice of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery for over 25 years, and has had a teaching appointment at the School of Dental Medicine at Buffalo since 1985. He has been a full-time faculty member since 2007. He was formerly Chairman of the Department of Dentistry at the Millard Fillmore Hospitals from 1988-2001, and Chief of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgery during that time. Dr. Hatton has also contributed to scientific inquiry over four decades, having published many articles, abstracts and book chapters. His publications have been cited in the science literature over 880 times.
Dr. Hatton participates in charitable endeavors of the School of Dental Medicine, and serves as a member on several school committees. He is past President of the Guild of Saint Apollonia, a charitable dental group run by Buffalo Catholic Charities. He served for 6 years as Council Chair of Long Range Planning Hospital Dentistry for the Eighth District Dental Society. He has held all of the offices of the New York State Society of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons, including President of the organization, and was delegate to the American Association of Oral and Maxillofacial Surgeons for many years.
Dr. Hatton’s wife Elizabeth is a Family Medicine Practitioner who also has a teaching appointment at the School of Dental Medicine. They have 8 children, 5 of whom joined the US military, and 5 grandchildren. The Hatton’s also enjoy sailing and living aboard their boat SWEETWATER when not working.
Dr. Kotlow is a 1972 graduate of SUNY Buffalo Dental School in Buffalo, New York, and completed his Pediatric Dental Residency at the Children’s Hospital in Cincinnati, Ohio. Since 1974, he has had a private practice in Albany, New York. He became board certified in Pediatric Dentistry in 1980, and is a Fellow in the American Board of Pediatric Dentistry. Dr. Kotlow has received the three major Third District Dental Society Awards and has served as president of the Third District Dental Society of New York State.
As a member of the Academy of Laser Dentistry (ALD), Dr. Kotlow served on the Board of Directors, achieved Advanced Proficiency in Erbium lasers and the Nd:YAG laser, as well as Standard Proficiency in the use of diodes’ CO2 @9300nm and ALD Mastership status. He was also the 2014 recipient of the Leon Goldman award for excellence from the ALD.
He is an internationally known expert on aiding mothers in achieving a comfortable and effective latch during breastfeeding due to tongue and lip ties, and has lectured to over 4,500 healthcare professionals on the diagnosis, laser treatment and post-surgical care of these infants. He has lectured on lasers and Pediatric Dentistry throughout the United States and internationally in Israel, Canada, Taiwan, France, England, Australia, Italy and Denmark.
Dr. Andrea Alvalle, DMD
Dr. Alvalle is a native of Puerto Rico. She earned her bachelor’s degree : Bachelor of Science in Biology from Pontifical Catholic University of PR and a Bachelor of Science in Geology from the University of Puerto Rico in Mayaguez. Dr. Alvalle received her Doctor of Medicine in Dentistry from the University of PR, Medical Sciences campus. Dr. Alvalle personal interests are in painting, reading, playing guitar, Yoga, working out, dancing and Volleyball.

Dr. Jose Medina, DMD
Dr. Medina was raised in Trujillo Alto, PR. He completed a bachelor’s degree in biology from the University of Puerto Rico at Rio Piedras. During his undergraduate studies Dr. Medina was heavily involved in the pre-dental association of his college and in investigations. He followed his education by acquiring his DMD degree from the University of Puerto Rico School of Dental Medicine, class of 2023. In his free time Dr. Medina enjoys playing video games, doing Taekwondo, travelling, reading, spending time with his family, and going to the gym.

Dr. Taryn More, DDS
Dr. More was born in Oneonta, NY and received her Bachelors of Science in 2018 from SUNY Oneonta. Following this, she earned her Doctorate of Dental Surgery from University at Buffalo School of Dental Medicine in 2023. She is interested in many aspects of general dentistry and wants to continue working with rural and underserved populations. In her spare time, she enjoys spending time outdoors with her husband and their miniature dachshunds.

Gabriela C. Torres Rullan, DMD
Dr. Gabriela Torres was born in Puerto Rico and spent her childhood moving within the United States as a military brat. In addition to Puerto Rico, she had the opportunity to live in locations within Florida, Louisiana, and St. Croix (USVI). Dr. Torres underwent her undergraduate studies at the University of Central Florida where she majored in Rhetorical Writing with a minor in Sociology. She followed her graduate studies at the University of Puerto Rico School of Dental Medicine where she acquired her DMD degree within the class of 2023. Dr. Torres enjoys spending her time baking, crafting, dancing, doing yoga, traveling, learning languages, and spending time with her family.
