Utica, NY (10/26/2009)
- The Utica College Social Cultural Committee and the Professor Harry F. and Mary Ruth Jackson Lunch Hour Series bring the Lavender Trio back to campus for a showcase of music on the flute, clarinet and bassoon.
Beth Carville Evans, Heather Johnsen and Judy Marchione are returning for a second time to the Lunch Hour Series to celebrate 30 years of the program. Part of the Professor Harry F. and Mary Ruth Jackson Lunch Hour Series, the program will take place Wednesday (Oct. 28) at 12:30 p.m. in the Library Concourse. It is free and open to the public.
Evans, a flutist from New Hartford, won the James Pappoutsakis Memorial Flute Competition in 1985, and has also taken first place in the Conservatory Gala Chamber Music Competition on four separate occasions. She belongs to the B Sharp and Etude Music clubs.
Marchione, the bassoonist, earned her master’s degree at Eastman School of Music in Rochester and currently plays with the Utica Symphony.
Johnsen, the clarinetist, rounds out the band. A former faculty member at SUNY Fredonia, her resume includes performances with the Goldovsky Opera Company, the American Wind Symphony, and the Buffalo Creative Associates.
