CLINTON, NY (10-10-09) – The men’s and women’s cross country teams competed and took home respectable finishes at the Hamilton Invitational Saturday afternoon. The men finished ninth as a team, totaling 234 points, and were led by sophomore
Brian Stevens (Rome, NY) who placed 28th overall with a 28:17 time in the 8k. The women finished eighth as a team, totaling 240 points, and were led by junior
Erica Cline (Red Hook, NY) who placed 34th overall with a 20:24 time in the 5k. It was each teams fourth meet of the season.
The men had sixteen runners compete in the meet. Junior
Geoffrey Hale (Williamstown, NY) placed 37th overall with a time of 28:41, good for second on the team. Freshman
Hunter Padgett (Clinton, NY), junior
Tim Fitzgerald (Utica, NY) and senior
Robert Fehrman (Central Square, NY) placed 55th, 56th, and 58th respectively, with times of 29:15, 29:21, and 29:29 for the Pioneers.
The women had five runners compete in the meet. Sophomore
Susan Torchia (Adams, MA) placed 43rd overall with a time of 20:50, good for second on the Pioneers. Freshman
Jill Baillargeon (Methuen, MA) placed 44th overall with a time of 20:54. Junior
Emilia Hernandez (New Rochelle, NY) placed 55th overall with a time of 22:44, and freshman
Erin Crowley (Whitesboro, NY) finished 64th overall with a time of 24:05.
Both the men and women compete next in Cornell, NY at the Cornell Invitational on October 23rd at 4:30 p.m.
