Susan Torchia RESULTS ITHACA, NY (10/23/09) - The Utica College men's and women's cross country programs competed at the 23rd annual John Reif Memorial Run hosted by Cornell University at the Moakley course in Ithaca, NY Friday. Sophomore Brian Stevens (Holland Patent/Rome, NY) led the men's team with a time of 28:43.8 in the five mile race, good for a 37th place finish. Sophomore Susan Torchia ( Hoosac Valley/Adams, MA ) took 31st place in the women's 5,000 meter race with a time of 21.42.7.
Geoffrey Hale (APW/Williamstown) placed 40th overall for the Pioneers with a time of 29:14.1, while Hunter Padgett (Clinton/Clinton), Tim Fitzgerald (T.R. Proctor/Utica) and Jonathan Szcesniak (Whitesboro/ Whitesboro) placed 41st, 42nd and 44th, respectively. Padgett registered a time of 29:14.8, while Fitzgerald posted a 29:24.0 and Szcesniak finished with a time of 29:36.8.
On the women's side, Freshman Jill Baillargeon (Methuen/Methuen, MA) posted a time of 22:29.5, good for a 42nd place finish in the 5,000 meter race.
The Pioneers return to action Saturday when they travel to Saratoga Springs on Saturday for the Empire 8 Conference Championships. The race is scheduled to begin at 11 p.m.
