Pink The Rink! The UC hockey program will wear collector’s edition pink jerseys in its games against Adrian (women’s @ 4 p.m.) and Neumann (men’s @ 7 p.m.) on Nov. 6th at the Aud.
The jersey's are currently being auctioned off on the Utica College men’s and women’s hockey pages at the UC athletics website (www.ucpioneers.com). Just click on the ‘Pink The Rink’ link on the right hand side of either hockey page and it will direct you to the bidding list. You can bid on the jerseys by sending an e-mail to Utica head women’s hockey coach Dave Clausen at: wclausen@utica.edu, with your name, address and amount you would like to bid. Fans can also bid on the pink jerseys on the day of the game at the Utica Memorial Auditorium beginning at 2:30 p.m. All proceeds will benefit the American Cancer Society.
“We have a chance to raise a substantial amount of money for the American Cancer Society and the fight against breast cancer,” says Clausen. “We want to pack the rink for the double-header on Nov. 6th and come together as a community to help raise awareness.”
Fans are also encouraged to wear pink to the game or they can purchase pink Utica Hockey t-shirts in the concourse of the Auditorium on the night of the game. Pink the Rink apparel is also available in the College's Barnes & Nobles bookstore in the Strebel Student Center on campus.
“I would love to look out into the stands and see 4,000 fans wearing pink,” says UC men’s hockey coach Gary Heenan. “The support we have had from the city so far this year has been phenomenal and we hope for the same type of turn out on Nov. 6th.”
The minimum bid for a pink jersey will be $100 and you can also purchase the jersey immediately for $300. Bidding must be made in increments of $5. Online bidding at www.ucpioneers.com will close at 5 p.m. on Nov. 5. It will re-open on the day of the game at the Aud.
