Katrina Brumfield UTICA, NY – Head Coach
Jason Rose announced the hiring of three new assistant track & field coaches at Utica College Monday.

Andrea Bader (sprints) will be responsible for assisting Rose with all facets of the indoor and outdoor track & field teams which will debut in the winter of 2009.
“I am excited to welcome three new coaches to the staff as we approach our inaugural track & field season here at Utica College,” says Rose, who was hired in the winter of 2008 after spending time as assistant coach of track & field and cross country at Tiffin University. “Katrina, Jake and Andrea are all knowledgeable and motivated young coaches with a wealth of experienced gained from participating in track & field at a high level in college.”
Brumfield will be responsible for overseeing the men’s and women’s jumpers. As a four year letter winner at Mansfield University she compiled an impressive track and field resume which included being named Mansfield University Athlete of the Year twice, a Pennsylvania State Athletic (PSAC) All-Conference selection and she was also an NCAA Division II National qualifier. She set eight school records in her time at Mansfield, including the indoor and outdoor 800 meter relay, 1600 meter relay and high jump records. She also set the outdoor 400 meter relay and the indoor sprint medley relay records.
Brumfield graduated from Mansfield in 2008 with a degree in mass communications. As a student she had an emphasis on broadcasting and public relations and she also spent time as a student assistant in the Mansfield Sports Information office.
Jake Basher will be responsible for overseeing the men’s and women’s throwers. His previous coaching experience includes a one year stint as strength and conditioning intern at Division I Ohio University. Basher served as the head strength coach for women’s track and field, cheerleading and men’s club rugby teams. He was also assistant strength coach for the football and women’s soccer programs. He assisted the head strength coach in supervising the football team during strength training and also developed a speed and agility program for the women’s soccer team.
Prior to Ohio University he spent three months as a volunteer throws coach at his alma mater, Brockport State, where he was responsible for assisting the head throws coach. While at Brockport he aided in coaching two All-Americans in the shot put and hammer throw.
Basher is a 2007 graduate of Brockport State where he earned a degree in physical education with a focus on exercise physiology. As a track & field student-athlete at Brockport he accumulated several honors including the 2007 Outdoor Division III National Runner Up (hammer) and the Indoor Division III National Runner Up (weight). He was a two-time Eastern Collegiate Athletic Conference Indoor Champion in the weight throw and he was also the New York State College Track Conference Indoor Champion in the weight throw in 2006.
Andrea Bader will be responsible for overseeing the men’s and women’s sprinters. She is a 2009 graduate of Tiffin University where she earned a degree in finance. A four year letter winner for the Tiffin track and field teams, she was an NAIA and NCAA Division II National qualifier as well as an Academic All-American. She set ten school records while at Tiffin including the indoor and outdoor 200 meter and long jump records in 2009. She also set the indoor 60 meter, 4 x 200 meter relay and 4 x 400 meter relay records as well as the outdoor 100 meter, 4 x 100 meter relay and 4 x 400 meter relay records.
Originally from Mansfield, OH, she attended Ashland Crestview High School and graduated in 2005. She played basketball and excelled on the track, qualifying for the state tournament in 13 events, placing eight times, and her high school career culminated in a 200 meter dash state championship in 2005.
