UTICA COLLEGE MEN’S HOCKEY RELEASES 2008-2009 SCHEDULE


Utica College men’s hockey Head Coach Gary Heenan released the program’s final 26 game schedule for the 2008-2009 season on Friday.

UC FOOTBALL ANNOUNCES CAPTAINS FOR 2008 CAMPAIGN


Utica College Head Football Coach Blaise Faggiano announced captains for the 2008 season Wednesday. Senior defensive end Vinson Jones and junior linebacker Eric Kahl were named defensive captains, while senior offensive lineman Mike Zappetti and senior wide receiver Jim Pincher will captain the offense.

UC PLACES FIVE ON CWPA ALL-ACADEMIC TEAMS


The UC women’s water polo team landed five athletes on the 2008 CWPA Women’s All-Academic Varsity Team released Monday. As a team, the Pioneers ranked fourth nationally with a 3.26 cumulative team grade point average.

Freshman attack Tammy Kohanski of the Utica College women’s lacrosse team was named the 2008 Division III Upstate Women’s Lacrosse Rookie of the Year released Wednesday.

UC’S KAUFMAN TO PLAY IN NEW YORK WOMEN’S PREMIER SOCCER LEAGUE


Senior goalie Ashley Kaufman, who spent the past four seasons in net for the Utica College women’s soccer team, will make her debut for the Adirondack Lynx of the New York Women’s Premier Soccer League (WPSL) Saturday.

UC FOOTBALL ANNOUNCES LOCAL RECRUITS FOR NEXT FALL


The Utica College football program will welcome 36 first-year, Section III, student-athletes to campus in the Fall for the 2008 season. The Section III recruits include student-athletes from 25 different school districts in the Central New York region.

UC BASEBALL PLACES THREE ON EMPIRE 8 ALL-CONFERENCE TEAMS


The Utica College baseball team placed three student-athletes on Empire 8 All-Conference teams released Tuesday. Junior centerfielder Adam Keller earned second team honors, while freshman utility player Chris Hine garnered honorable mention status.

UC ATHLETICS ANNOUNCES 2008 DICK MILLER AWARD WINNERS


The Utica College athletic department announced its 2008 Richard “Dick” Miller Most Inspirational Award Winners Monday. Senior James Proniewych of the football team and classmate Ashley Kaufman of the women’s soccer and hockey teams were the recipients of the award that has been presented to a deserving UC male and female student-athlete every year since 1987.

PIONEERS SEASON COMES TO A CLOSE IN ECAC SEMI-FINALS


The fourth seeded Utica College women's lacrosse team dropped a 21-12 decision to host and top seeded Brockport State Saturday in the semi-finals of the ECAC Upstate Tournament. Freshman Tammy Kohanski tallied a team-high five goals in the Pioneers final game of the season.
