MEN'S SOCCER LANDS THREE ON ALL CONFERENCE TEAMS


Three student athletes from the Utica College men’s soccer team were named to the Empire 8 All Conference team released Thursday. Junior defender Nathan Broedel, sophomore midfielder Jon Wood and freshman forward DJ Ilebani earned All Conference honorable mention status. Wood was also named the College’s representative on the Sportsman of the Year team.

PIONEERS DOWN ADRIAN AT SECOND ANNUAL PINK THE RINK


Junior Meagan Sudik netted the game-winner in the 11th minute of the third period as the Utica College women's hockey team (1-2) defeated non conference foe Adrian College 4-3 at the Utica Memorial Auditorium Friday night. Adrian led 3-1 midway through the second period but the Pioneers answered with the game's final three goals, capped by Sudik's game-winner, to seal their first victory of the season.

 
 
STRONG POWER PLAY UNIT GUIDES PIONEERS PAST #2 NEUMANN


The Utica College men's hockey team (1-0-1) defeated visiting and nationally-ranked No. 2 Neumann University 7-3 in ECAC Men's West Conference play at the Utica Memorial Auditorium Friday. Freshman Evan Chlanda netted two goals and the Pioneers went 6-for-10 on the power play to knock off the defending national champions. The Utica victory highlighted the second annual AmeriCU "Pink the Rink" event where the Pioneers dawned special edition pink jersey's which were auctioned off through out the game. All proceeds from the auction will benefit the American Cancer Society.

KAHL SELECTED TO PLAY IN PRESTIGIOUS 'TAZON DE ESTRELLAS' GAME IN MEXICO


Senior linebacker Eric Kahl of the Utica College football team has been selected by the Stars & Stripes coaching staff to be a roster player for the Tazon de Estrellas (Bowl of the Stars) in Mexico on December 19th. With this honor comes the opportunity for Kahl to represent Utica College, Division III football, and his country, playing American football on an international stage.

ONLINE AUCTION NOW OPEN FOR 'PINK THE RINK' EVENT


On Friday, Nov. 6th the Utica College men's and women's hockey teams are joining forces with AmeriCU Credit Union and Theta Phi Alpha to ‘Pink the Rink’ and raise breast cancer awareness. The UC hockey program will wear collector’s edition pink jerseys in its games against Adrian (women’s @ 4 p.m.) and Neumann (men’s @ 7 p.m.) on Nov. 6th at the Aud.

MEN'S XC TAKES THIRD PLACE AT E8 CHAMPIONSHIPS; POSTING BEST FINISH IN PROGRAM HISTORY


The Utica College cross country program competed at the Empire 8 Conference Cross Country Championships hosted by RPI Saturday. The men’s team competed very well and placed third overall, out of seven teams, while the women’s squad took seventh place. The men’s finish is the best conference finish in the four year history of the program.

STRONG SECOND HALF GUIDES HARTWICK PAST UTICA


The Utica College football team (3-5, 0-4 E8) led 19-7 at the half, but Hartwick (5-3, 1-3 E8) outscored the Pioneers 26-8 in the second half en route to a 33-27 Empire 8 Conference victory Saturday on the turf at Charles A. Gaetano Stadium. The Pioneers totaled 311 yards of total offense, and freshman Jake Scott carried the ball 22 times for a career-high 108 yards and a touchdown, but it was not enough as the Hawks scored the game's final two touchdowns including the game-winner with 1:19 to go in regulation.

#18 STEVENS DEFEATS UTICA IN OVERTIME AS PIONEERS CLOSE OUT 2009 CAMPAIGN


The Utica College men's soccer team lost to nationally-ranked No. 18 Stevens Institute of Technology 1-0 in overtime Saturday night on the turf at Charles A. Gaetano Stadium. The contest marked the final game of the year for the Pioneers, who dropped seven one goal contests over the course of the season.

PIONEERS SEASON COMES TO A CLOSE AT #11 SKIDMORE


The Utica College field hockey team (8-9) lost to nationally-ranked No. 11 Skidmore College (14-3) Saturday, 5-1, at Thoroughbred Field. With the loss the Pioneers close out their 2009 campaign with a record of 8-9 overall and 3-3 in Empire 8 Conference play.

WOMEN'S SOCCER SEASON COMES TO AN END AT RPI


The Utica College women’s soccer team ended their season with a disappointing loss to RPI (6-11-1) by a score of 5-0 at East Campus Stadium on Saturday. The Pioneers stayed in the game early, but were put away by three RPI second half goals to end their season with a record of 4-12-0.
