POTSDAM TOPS UTICA IN NON CONFERENCE PLAY
The Utica College women's lacrosse team netted five of the game's final seven goals but they could not rebound from a 6-0 deficit as the Pioneers dropped an 8-5 decision at Potsdam State Saturday afternoon. Sophomore Katlyn Banker netted a career-high three goals, while Julianne Schultheiss added one goal and one assist for the Pioneers.

LOCAL RIVAL HAMILTON HANGS ON FOR WIN OVER UTICA
For the second straight game the Utica College men's lacrosse team fought hard but fell just short. The Pioneers never trailed by more than two goals in an 8-7 loss at windy Hamilton College on Saturday afternoon. Senior goalie Travis Wright stopped 15 shots as the Pioneers were out shot 35-17 on the day. Michael Bulger netted five points on four goals and one assist, including a man-up goal with 1:07 left in regulation to pull the Pioneers to with in one goal.

PIONEERS TRAVEL TO FAYETTVILLE FOR ANNUAL SPRING TRIP
The Utica College baseball team will be traveling to Fayetteville, N.C. to play five games next week. The Pioneers begin their season versus Frostburg State at 4 p.m. on March 15th. Following opening day, UC will take on the University of Wisconsin-Platteville at 2 p.m. on the 16th, and Lasell College at 3:30 p.m. on the 17th. Following the five-game series in North Carolina, the Pioneers will travel to Cazenovia College to take on the Wildcats at 3:30 p.m. on March 24th.

DOHERTY AND GONZALES FINALISTS FOR RBK DIVISION III ALL-AMERICAN TEAM
Senior goalie Jill Doherty (Wellesley, Ma.) and junior forward Lynny Gonzales (Rochester, N.Y.), of the Utica College women’s hockey team, have been named to the ECAC Women’s West All-Conference Second Team, and are also finalists for the RBK Division III All-American team. This is the first time Doherty and Gonzales received all-conference honors.

BERRY SELECTED AS A FINALIST FOR NCAA DIVISION III STATE FARM COACHES' ALL-AMERICAN TEAM
Jessica Berry of the Utica College women’s basketball team was selected as a finalist for the NCAA Division III State Farm Coaches’ All-American Team. Berry is among 40 finalists that will be voted upon by the Women’s Basketball Coaches Association for the selection of the 10-member All-American Team. The ten nominees will be presented at the NCAA Division III Women’s Basketball Championship Banquet on Thursday, March 18, 2010, at The Chateau Hotel in Bloomington, Ill.

WOMEN'S LACROSSE GAME VS. GENESEO POSTPONED
The Utica College women's lacrosse game against host Geneseo originally scheduled for Wednesday has been postponed. The game has been rescheduled and will now be played on April 26th at Geneseo. The contest is scheduled to begin at 4 p.m.

UC WATER POLO FALLS AT SIENA INVITATIONAL
The Utica College water polo team fell to 0-4 this weekend at the Siena Water Polo Invite as strong performances were put forth by juniors Amanda Sulicz (West Palm Beach, FL), Alyssa Cortese (New Hartford,NY), and goal keeper Kera Langdon (Remsen,NY).

PIONEERS FALL SHORT AT ECAC DIVISION III CHAMPIONSHIPS
The Utica College men’s and women’s track and field team featured three athletes competing in the ECAC Division III Championships at Smith College this weekend, all of whom posted respectable finishes. Lauren Penc finsihed sixth in the women's 500 meter dash while Kyriq Williams and Brandon Rudolphe finished eighth and 12th in their respective events.

RESILIENT MEN'S LAX TEAM BATTLES BACK BUT FALLS JUST SHORT
The Utica College men's lacrosse team dug itself out of a 7-1 first quarter hole, and outscored host Scranton 9-7 in the second half, but the deficit proved to be to great as the Pioneers lost 15-13 Saturday in their season opener. Senior Michael Bulger led the way for UC with six points on four goals and two assists while classmate Michael Brodhead added three goals and one assist. Utica scored seven of the game's final nine goals - including two man-down goals with under three minutes to go in the contest - but the clock ran out on the Pioneers comeback.

PIONEERS DROP SEASON OPENER AGAINST ONEONTA
The Utica College women's lacrosse team lost to visiting Oneonta State 15-5 in the season opener for the Pioneers on Saturday afternoon. Junior all-conference midfielder Tammy Kohanski, who extended her scoring streak to 32 games, netted all three of her goals in the second half, while classmate Julianne Schultheiss added her first goal of the season for UC with 15 seconds to go in the contest. Sophomore goalie Shelby Barbay made a career-high 18 saves in net for Utica.
