ECAC 2008-09 Division III Upstate Women's Basketball All-Stars

UTICA, NY – Sophomore forward Jessica Berry (Rome Free Academy/Rome) of the Utica College women’s basketball team was named to the 2008-09 Division III Upstate Women’s Basketball All-Star Team on Monday. The honor marks the second straight season she has earned first team status.

Berry, a two-time Empire 8 All Conference First Team selection, will join the first team All-Stars in her second year. Berry was named conference player of the week three times and the College’s female athlete of the week twice this past season. She also became the second player in program-history to be named to the D3hoops.com National Team of the Week. She led the conference in scoring (17.3 points per game) and finished second in rebounding (9.6 rebounds per game) and field goal percentage (.541). She has compiled 930 points and 504 rebounds in 53 career games. To date, she has a career average of 17.6 points and 9.5 rebounds per game. In less than two full seasons she has cracked the top ten on the College’s all-time scoring and rebounding lists. She boasts 22 career double-doubles (points, rebounds), including 11 this season. She also led the Pioneers in rebounding in 23 of 26 games this past season.

As a team, the Pioneers finished in a tie for first place in the regular season with 19-7 overall record. They lost in the Empire 8 Conference Tournament semi-finals to eventual conference champion and NCAA Tournament participant Stevens Institute of Technology.
