#19 Brenna Weidman BOX SCORE PITTSFORD, NY - The Utica College soccer team (3-7, 2-2 E8) scored two goals in the final 33:31 of play but it proved to be too late, after after falling behind 3-0, as the Pioneers dropped a 3-2 decision in Empire 8 Conference play at St. John Fisher College (4-7-1, 3-3 E8) Saturday. Brenna Weidman (Holliston, MA) and junior
Amber Comeau (Medford, MA) each scored unassisted goals for Utica in the second half but it was not enough as the Cardinals hung on for the key conference victory.
Weidman's third goal of the season came off a free kick from 20 yards out in the 66th minute while Comeau added her third goal of the season with 1:08 left to play in the game.
Jaime Hillman (Hornell, NY) stopped five shots in net for the Pioneers.
Fisher opened up a 3-0 lead over the course of the first 53:30 of the contest. Katlyn Perotti scored her second goal of the season off a crossing pass from Elizabeth Lawrence in the 24th minute. Just over ten minutes later Mary Dougherty gave the Cardinals a 2-0 lead with her second goal of the season off a rebound in the 35th minute. Megan Gee netted her team-best ninth goal of the season in the 53rd minute off an assist from Amanda Siebert to give the Cardinals a 3-0 lead.
Utica out shot Fisher 10-9 on the day but the Cardinals earned a 3-2 corner kick advantage. Fisher goalie Ashley Martin stopped a game-high five shots in net.
The Pioneers remain on the road Sunday when they take on RIT in Empire 8 Conference play at 1 p.m.
