At 7:00 pm on Thursday, November 12, 2015, Professor Claudio Lopez-Guerra gave a public lecture titled "Equal Subjects: Why Rulers Should Cast in Their Lot with the Ruled". The talk was hosted in Carbone Auditorium on Utica College's campus at 1600 Burrstone Rd., Utica, NY. Professor Lopez-Guerra discussed the ways today’s decision-makers are shielded from the consequences of their actions by acknowledging the beliefs of democratic theorists, the traditional focus on incorporating citizens in rulers’ decision making practices, and the luxuries that rulers are able to enjoy that aren’t available to the people.
