Description
The Cochrane Collection Plus provides evidence-based health care data to inform those providing and receiving care, and those responsible for research, teaching, funding and administration. This collection consists of 6 individual databases that may be searched independently or in any combination.

The Cochrane Collection Plus is the most comprehensive collection of databases available from the Cochrane Library and includes:

  • Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials
  • Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews (CDSR)
  • Cochrane Methodology Register
  • Database of Abstracts of Reviews of Effects (DARE)
  • Health Technology Assessments (HTA)
  • NHS Economic Evaluation Database (NHS EED)

Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials is a bibliography of controlled trials identified by contributors to the Cochrane Collaboration and others, as part of an international effort to hand search the world's journals and create an unbiased source of data for systematic reviews. This databaseincludes:

  • Reports published in conference proceedings
  • Other sources not currently listed in Medline or other bibliographic databases

Cochrane Central Register of Controlled Trials is updated quarterly.

The Cochrane Database of Systematic Reviews (CDSR) contains full text articles and protocols that focus the effects of healthcare. CDSR reviews are highly structured and systematic:

  • Evidence is included or excluded on the basis of explicit quality criteria to minimize bias
  • Evidence-based data is often combined statistically (with meta-analysis) to increase the power of the findings of numerous studies, each too small to produce reliable results individually

CDSR is updated quarterly.

Cochrane Methodology Register (CMR) is a bibliography of publications which report on methods used in the conduct of controlled trials. The database contains studies of methods used in reviews and more general methodological studies which could be relevant to anyone preparing systematic reviews.

CMR is produced by the UK Cochrane Center on behalf of the Cochrane Methodology Review Group.

Database of Abstracts of Reviews of Effectiveness (DARE) includes abstracts of published systematic reviews on the effects of health care from around the world, which have been critically analyzed according to a high standard of criteria. Reviewers at the NHS Centre for Reviews and Dissemination at the University of York, England conduct this appraisal. DARE's abstracts include:

  • A description of the systematic reviews methodology, results and conclusions
  • Access to quality reviews in subjects for which a Cochrane review may not yet exist

Health Technology Assessments (HTA) database provides details of completed and ongoing health technology assessments (studies of the medical, social, ethical and economic implications of healthcare interventions) from around the world. The aim of the database is to improve the quality of cost-effectiveness of health care. In addition to systematic reviews, HTA contains ongoing and completed research based on trials, questionnaires and economic evaluations.

The HTA database is produced by the Centre for Reviews and Dissemination (CDR) at the University of York, UK, using information obtained from members of International Network of Agencies for Health Technology Assessment (INAHTA) and other health technology assessments organizations.

NHS Economic Evaluation Database (NHS EED) assists decision makers in the world of professional health care by providing information on the costs and effects of drugs, treatment and procedures. Economic evaluations (the cost-benefit analysis of two or more different medical treatments) from around the world are sysystematically identified, described and appraised for quality while their relative strengths and weaknesses are explored and highlighted.

NHS EED is produced by the Centre for Reviews and Dissemination (CDR) at the University of York, UK.
