Utica, NY (02/07/2011) - A group of Utica College students and advisers will travel to Albany tomorrow (Tuesday, Feb 8) to have their voices heard. They will board a bus at 7:30 a.m. in the circle in front of Strebel Student Center to travel to the state capital to meet with legislators. Members of the group plan to ask legislators to support and commit to TAP and Opportunity Program funding for college students in New York State.Governor Cuomo's executive budget proposes significant cuts to Direct Institutional "Bundy Aid," as well as the elimination of TAP for graduate students. Utica College and institutions use this funding to provide financial aid for students.
Utica College has a long history of helping students from low- and middle-income families, including a large number of first-generation college students, realize their dream of earning a college degree.
