Former US Director of Intelligence to Visit UC
On Wednesday, Nov. 1, the Organization of Justice Studies (OJS) at Utica College will host former U.S. Director of National Intelligence Admiral Mike McConnell, who was successful in substantial investments, at the multi-billion dollar level, to improve cybersecurity standards of the U.S.
On Wednesday, Nov. 1, the Organization of Justice Studies (OJS) at Utica College will host former U.S. Director of National Intelligence Admiral Mike McConnell, who was successful in substantial investments, at the multi-billion dollar level, to improve cybersecurity standards of the U.S.
The talk, titled “Cybersecurity in a Dangerous World,” will be at 5 p.m. in the Frank E. Gannett Library Concourse. UC students are admitted for free, non-UC students, faculty, staff, and alumni will be $5 and the general public is $10. Admission tickets (even free) must be secured in advance; there will be no tickets at the door.
McConnell is a retired Vice Admiral in the United States Navy, and former Vice Chairman of Booz Allen Hamilton where he served on the firm’s leadership team and led the intelligence and cybersecurity business. He served under presidents George W. Bush and Barack Obama from 2007 to 2009 as our nation’s second U.S. Director of National Intelligence, a position of cabinet rank, and a member of the White House National Security Council. His career span of over 50 years focused on international and foreign intelligence issues and his 29 years as a US Navy officer included assignments that impacted national security. His job as Director of the National Security Agency (NSA), was to improve the cybersecurity posture of businesses and government agencies around the globe to better protect them from hackers, criminals, and terrorists.
