Multi-million dollar expansion to athletic facilities gets underway Spring 2021
The new facility, which will be located behind the Clark Athletic Center adjacent to Gaetano Stadium and the baseball field, will include lighting for evening events and bleacher seating for 200 spectators.
In a world where so much seems to have slowed down this past year, Utica College continues to move full steam ahead with more innovative construction projects, continuing its growth with a multi-million dollar expansion to its dynamic and ever-bustling athletic facilities.
The College has received a $2 million gift commitment to expand facilities for its nearly 700 student-athletes. Construction is scheduled to begin in the spring on a new multipurpose, synthetic turf athletic field and eight-lane outdoor track.
Along with other private gifts, this most recent leadership gift will cover 100 percent of the total $3.5 million project. The new facility, which will be located behind the Clark Athletic Center adjacent to Gaetano Stadium and the baseball field, will include lighting for evening events and bleacher seating for 200 spectators.
“The addition of this facility will provide a critically needed practice venue for multiple sports, including field hockey, football, lacrosse, soccer, softball, and track and field, as well as a complementary competition venue to Gaetano Stadium,” said Utica College President Laura Casamento. “The synthetic turf will allow athletes to train and compete regardless of weather conditions and will go a long way to eliminating many of the scheduling conflicts our athletes currently face.”
Set to open in Fall 2021, the new facility will help Utica College’s athletic programs to grow and thrive for generations to come.
