Utica University offering High School Students an Up-Close Look at Communications Careers
Held Wednesday, March 29, 2023 in Utica University’s Hislop Auditorium, the day features countless opportunities for local high school students to get close-up sessions on a myriad of communications-related topics and careers.
Ever wondered what it would be like to work in the exciting fields of journalism, public relations, or communications? Utica University and the Raymond Simon Institute for Public Relations and Journalism are teaming up to bring the experience and knowledge from those in the career field to you at High School Communication Career Day!
Held Wednesday, March 29, 2023 in Utica University’s Hislop Auditorium, the day features countless opportunities for local high school students to get close-up sessions on a myriad of communications-related topics and careers.
“The faculty at Utica University have created an exciting array of interactive learning sessions focused on digital marketing, social media, sports communication, journalism and public relations,” says event organizer and Professor of Public Relations and Management Patricia Swann. “Additionally, students can hear from current students and alumni of our programs during panel presentations.”
“The communication industry has changed rapidly in the last decade and employment opportunities have grown,” explains Professor Swann. “It’s really important for students who are creative and interested in communicating information in a variety of ways to start exploring their options. This career exploration program does just that!”
Continental Breakfast and Lunch will be served for attendees.
Utica University’s Communication and Media curriculum helps students develop a deep understanding of historical, legal, cultural, and critical aspects of communication while learning how to use multimedia technology to produce and share compelling information.The institution offers concentrations in communication arts, journalism, public relations, sports journalism, sports communication, creativity studies, communication and social justice, health communications, and theater.
The Business Management program at Utica University offers a Marketing Management concentration that prepares students as strategic communication professionals who assist organizations in developing and implementing effective messaging and event promotion.
