Biography
Originally from the Camillus, NY area, Maria moved to the Utica area in 2019. Maia joined the Utica University staff in February 2023. She completed her Master’s in Clinical Mental Health Counseling at Capella University in 2021. During her time in grad school, she became a proud member of Chi Sigma Iota, the counseling academic and professional international honor society. Her Bachelor’s is in Human Development with a concentration in Psychology from SUNY Empire State College in 2016.
Before coming to campus, she gained clinical experience working in an outpatient community health clinic, after working in outpatient and inpatient substance abuse rehabilitation. Most of Maria’s experience comes from her 10 years working with domestic and sexual violence survivors in various capacities. She was formerly the YWCA Enough is Enough advocate from 2019 to 2021 and worked closely with then Utica College during that time. In her spare time Maria enjoys spending time with her family, shopping, and perusing all the streaming services. She also loves coffee, Autumn, and Gilmore Girls.
